In February we went to Lisbon, Portugal to represent Slovenia in European open Brasilian Jiu Jitsu Championship. It was very important for Slovenia and our Team to compete in a competition of this magnitude, also for the first time we were able to send so many of our fighters to a competition and it turned out to be a great experience for everyone.

Professor Carlos Maia and GB Slovenia are offering a special program for kids (from 5 to 10 years old). The program was developed by Master Carlos Gracie jr. and it emphasizes safety, discipline and responsibility. The techniques they learn are real. This way they learn to respect those techniques, their fellow students, coaches and other people in general. The students also develop techniques that will be important in their life, such as how to fall, how to take down a bigger opponent and many other skills. This is a list of few techniques and principles your child will learn:
- safely falling to the ground
- safely throwing someone to the ground
- how to apply submissions holds from the bottom (guard)
- how to apply submissions holds from top positions (side, mount, half-guard)
- how to escape submissions holds
- how to handle self-defense situations.
